October Golden Hour - Drama Therapy

When: Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 PM EST

Where: LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland, 6705 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102

Join us on October 19th, 7:00pm EST at our next in-person Golden Hour event to learn about 2nd Act’s newest program! Our drama therapy groups are utilized by recovery centers, harm reduction organizations, and treatment facilities to support the mental health of their peers, social workers and street outreach staff.

Across the behavioral health system, secondary traumatic stress (STS) and burnout are major sources of sickness, absence, psychological injury claims, job turnover, and compromised quality of care. This vital workforce, which serves as the central pillar of the nation's overdose prevention plan, is a doubly vulnerable population. Our drama therapy groups were created as an antidote to meet the urgently rising need for resources, especially those related to STS. These trauma-informed group therapy sessions are designed for peer recovery specialists and community health workers who serve people with Substance Use Disorders and people who use drugs.

At our Golden Hour, you will experience first hand how the groups work, what theories underpin its effectiveness, and engage with drama therapeutic exercises with a registered drama therapist and two licensed social workers who utilize drama therapeutic techniques in their daily work.

Come join us to see if this program is right for your clinic, hospital, or recovery center! Or come just to get a taste of drama therapy!
